Good Morning, Good Night, and General Chit Chat

That wouldn’t bother me, tbh. I’m usually concentrating on my food and/or companion.

I thought I’d be the only one thinking this.

I couldn’t put my finger on it but my entire impression of Monzo and its change over the years and why I don’t use them anymore (sadly) was almost summed up in an “ahhh” moment when they came on screen.

It makes sense now.

I just can’t bring myself to trust a bank with all my finances when they have VP’s who dress/sit like that on national TV.

As for the show… I wish they wouldn’t give them these age ranges to design for. It’s intentionally not really possible - 6 is too childish and 9 is too grown up. Set up to fail.

Yep completely agree, just seemed all hipsterish, if that’s even a word. Honestly felt like he wanted to be sitting in a hipster burger joint trying every IPA on the menu then writing about it on a world beers blog. Obviously people can dress as they want and people can’t have an opinion nowadays but just don’t go like that on national TV :joy:.

Even though TSB has a shit app I respected that woman a lot more as she seemed very professional. Was a little shocked when the dude answering her questions decided to ignore her eventually and move on..:joy:

I don’t care how people dress in their own time. I wouldn’t care if he wanted to wear a hot coral thong and a polka dot jumper when it’s his own time, it’s that he chose to dress and sit like that on national TV when representing their employer.

It also wasn’t a “banking app” (as described by the show) the contestants were pitching…

I don’t watch the show, but based on the descriptions from others, that would suggest to me that it’s not Monzo who have changed, but you! Startup culture, especially in the tech space, is very hipster-ish, and if VPs are behaving and dressing casually in a business setting, then it suggests that internally, that same culture is alive and well at the corporate level, and I like that.

From all my experiences going to in person events in the Mondo/early Monzo stages not a single person dressed like that, including Tom.

Casual, for sure. But still office-casual. Presentable.

Monzo have absolutely changed on this one.

Now I am intrigued as to how this person was dressed, anyone know where I can find out? :joy:

I’d like to know too, because at this point, I’m picturing a vagabond. :joy:

I am expecting something like this from Google images

Haha it’s not that bad, and I guess a lot of it is in the sitting which comes across more with video.

I think they are all casual-ish, just some I would trust with my money more than others, and as others have pointed out perhaps it’s not something I can quite put my finger on:

(For clarity, middle is from GoHenry, end right is from TSB)

Like I said, and others have too, nobody wants a big wig in a suit but there’s a fine balance between casual and hipster.

PS. I’m honestly not in any way trying to demean him as an individual. At all. Just think as a company (and Monzo are a company, not three guys in a garage in Hackney) a little more “casual shirt and chinos” would have set a better look for a brand handling millions of people’s money and wanting to have more.

His body language says “I can’t be f***d with these clowns but I’m being paid to be here” and that’s just not good.

Not a bad guess!

Tbh, I not only don’t mind that look, but I quite like it. A bit hipster-ish, sure, but there’s a sophistication about it too. It’s casual, but in a classy way without being business casual.

I think the dress code for men has always been way too restrictive, especially in those settings, so I appreciate someone bold enough to break that mould. It’s why I like Huel’s marketing guy for Dragon’s Den.

I don’t think he looks out of place either.

I really don’t see the problem, personally. Maybe there’s something wrong with what the posture conveys to you neurotypicals? But other than that… :person_shrugging:

We will have to agree to disagree here

If I had to choose a bank based on the people sitting in those chairs I’d bank with TSB l day long.

But I don’t, and TSB is awful.

(I wasn’t allowed to type sh*t there. I’m sure people swear on here all the time. Is this a recent change? )

I also wasn’t allowed to type rub*ish.

Is this some sort of joke?

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not my style at all! I just don’t think it looks bad! Certainly not like your photo above. Plaid should be criminalised. It’s hideous.
