Anyone get Silent Hill 2 and feel it was worth it?
Finally got around to putting some proper time into RE4 Remake and just got to The Island.
Talk about doing it in style. Shows up all those Remasters that just put out a small lick of paint over the original assets.
I vividly remember how amazing the game was in first play through nearly 20 years ago and this recreates that magic perfectly.
Totally captures how I remember the game, rather than how it actually was.

Mine has shipped today via DPD, so hopefully arriving tomorrow.
Interesting review though. Shame they didnāt give an opinion on fan noise levels or coil whine (my main annoyances with the current PS5).
Will find out tomorrow I guess.
Oh I can hear it. I hear whine from many electronic devices. My ears are too sensitive.
The PS5 is truly awful and itās coming from a capacitor within the PSU. A YouTuber did a teardown to trace the noise back to the exact component itās coming from.
The fan noise issue is a lottery. Sony use 3 completely different models of fan in the PS5, one made by Foxconn, another from Delta and a third I donāt recall the name of.
The Delta fan makes an annoying buzzing sound when at higher speeds. The Foxconn fan is the quietest but still too noisy.
These 2 issues are mostly present on the Slim edition. The original PS5 is larger and uses a larger fan (larger fans tend to make less noise).

Iām hoping the Pro will be better in that regard but Iām doubting it. Sony started working on the Pro the same time as PS5 was released in 2020.
Chances are the same basic components were chosen for both models to simplify their supply chain. It likely has the same capacitors.

Iām not an Xbox fan at all, but I have to say that the Xbox Series X build quality is in another league (Iāve had a nose about inside of one too).
Microsoft have put some real effort into noise reduction as well. The quality of the electrical components are also superior to Sony.
This isnāt a huge surprise though, Sony have been very open about selling consoles at a profit. They donāt subscribe to the whole āletās sell the console at a loss and make the money back on gamesā theory. Each PS5 sale is profitable.
Iād imagine the manufacturing cost of an Xbox is significantly higher than a PlayStation because of this difference in business model.
That being said, I still wouldnāt jump ship. Sony forever!

Having spent the last couple of hours playing on the PS5 Pro, I can confirm the whine has been greatly reduced (itās present but I have to put my ear up to the console to hear it now), and the fan is also significantly quieter than the PS5 Slim.
The improvement in graphics is significant, IMO, more so than the reviews have so far suggested. I am playing on a monitor though, so Iām up close. Itās possibly less noticeable for TV players.
Responsiveness is very much improved, even in games which are yet to be patched for Pro. Everything just feels so much smoother.
So far, so good. Iām not regretting my purchase yet.

Free is a very good reason to revisit the classic.

Oooo lemme check, never played no.
I think itās a brilliant console for casual gaming and well worth the money.
I would maybe have a look at second hand ones to get a deal, but thatās not a terrible price.
