Freetrade: Free Share Trading

Has anyone received there payment? On of my friends got there’s today but I’ve received nothing

Not yet. Crowdcube tell me it’s imminent though.

Do you mind sharing what they said?

Just to make sure my bank details were up to date and :

We are still yet to receive funds from the payment agent, but expect to do so very soon. They confirmed on 1 April 2025 that it would take 1-2 days for us to receive funds.

They’ve been sitting on the money for a week now …

Just had another update:

We received funds in our bank account on Friday, April 4, 2025 and the first payments were distributed on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Payments will be processed as soon as possible for those investors who have already passed our Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks and provided us with their payment details. Batches of payments are therefore being made throughout this week and next week.

What I hate about the “check your bank details” bit is that you can’t actually check your bank details.

It shows you the last 4 digits and sort code, and then I start to worry “did i put the whole account number in correctly?”, but you can only edit it not view it - so I click edit and do it again and think everything is fine … but then I look again and I can only see the last 4 digits and my brain again thinks “did I put the whole number in correctly” and around I go in a vicious circle!

Who said it would be 21st?

Just in case anyone is wondering how this is going, I recently rejoined IG and was a little confused as to why two apps.

One is the new freetrade-esq one “IG Invest”. It’s UI nice but functionally a bit poor. You can find and buy shares and see how things are going but that’s about jt, I’m told that this will improve over time.

Whereas the existing IG app has much more functionality around shares but isn’t as easy to use.

I was also told (by an IG rep) the intent is for new to replace old over time with functionality to come.

They’ve (IG) also removed all fees on shares so it’s essentially free for now. They do charge small commission on some US trades and for FX trading et al.

I got my payment from Crowdcube today for Freetrade shares I’d purchased some time ago.

Same. Really wish I hadn’t invested in one of the later rounds.

I think I got back roughly what I invested but not great, as I’d have liked a little more after all this time.

So it looks like the Freetrade community forum is closing.

We’ve decided that it’s time to close the Community forum in its current form.

We’re grateful for the feedback and support that we’ve received here over the years.

We know that discussions about investing play an important role in helping you learn about the markets and reach your financial goals. In the future we’ll look for opportunities to incorporate a place for discussions more closely with our investment platform.

You’ll still be able to request new stocks and reach out to customer service or our social media accounts with feature and product requests.

Thank you for your support and passion for our mission over the years.

When did mutual funds become available in Plus? I have a Plus subscription and wasn’t even aware!

Edit: It seems it was in June

I’ve just had an email letting me know that my SIPP as well as gilts and mutual funds (which I don’t partake in) will now be available on the free basic plan so I no longer need to pay any platform fees.

I’m not sure where their revenue will be coming from now…
