Why do you think there are no notifications for credit cards? Could it be because they are VISA?

:joy: about 2 years now I think… So no, not really!

Yeah I would think so, completely different backend systems I would imagine for the VISA credit cards.

They don’t even show pending transactions.

I think I must be the only one who actually likes the HSBC notifications!

It’s the spacing between payee and reference. Supposed to be underneath not 17 spaces right :joy:

Can’t say I’ve counted the spacing but it’s fine for me - all the info is there.

I was being sarcastic. Just seems unnecessary space.

Really conscious this is the FD thread but interested to see what the differences are.

In HSBC they are literal to the transaction detail, whereas Monzo, FD etc must apply a level of in between beautification which doesn’t happen here.

This is why I like them!

Are those who have a Joint Account with FD seeing which party to the account made any given debit card transaction in their notifications - as happens with Starling/Monzo etc. It should be implemented, but not certain it has been.

Nice! I was about to lament lack of reliable push notifications from any mainstream bank. Let’s see how it goes this time. Turned them off and back on today so crossing my fingers they’ll stick around this time!

NatWest had good notifications no?

No sound or vibration.

In fairness the HSBCs are fairly decent for the most part. Nearly always instant and they do sounds and vibrations.

The NatWest ones are really nice but silent which I don’t mind. I’d rather have them than not at all.

Barclays were very patchy and often delayed and I believe Lloyds are similar.

But no one quite gets to the level of the Fintechs, specifically Monzo.

On iOS they are silent. All good with sound on Android.

Just can’t keep away from the simplicity of First Directs app layout. Just went and reopened an account. :face_with_peeking_eye:

Figured it’s quicker to go the Apple Wallet app to check the balance than it is the app :joy:

Do wonder if I get financially anxious because of the available data (analytics and Trends) setting in, whereby just seeing balance and spend might alleviate :eyes::sweat_smile:

 there is some “x factor” that keeps me with FD objectively there are better banking apps with other banks for managing my account. Natwest, Monzo, Chase etc. Although I know for a fact that the customer service for me has been a massive plus. I get answers and help so much quicker than with any other bank. I asked Virgin a question about 2 weeks ago and I never had any response. (I’m now switching that account into my Nationwide one for the £200 incentive :joy:)

I’m also a complete sucker for good branding and FD just speaks to me in a way no other bank does. I like the monochrome, and the simplicity of it.

Me also. I still have a FD account though even the notifications didn’t bring me back from HSBC as it has, for now, just enough extras such as budgeting etc.

Thinking about giving FD a go. Following a really horrible interaction with HSBC in their branch I am moving all my banking away from them. Not even like I’m exaggerating, I complained and within 15 min had a call back and 150 compensation but just the way I was spoken to was so degrading and rude I actually can’t stop thinking about it. Although FD is part of HSBC I don’t really see them as the same thing. Im also torn between trying Nationwide as well. Barclays Lloyds and Natwest I’m not really a massive fan of doesn’t leave many options. So far got a 1st A/C with overdraft, gold card and regular saver all in one day not a bad experience so far! What’s everyone’s opinions using them as main?
