Thank you. Just had a quick look, Luckily I could see the comments from the head of marketing being quoted in replies.
Also, those adverts puts me right off them. Hopefully FD don’t get involved.
Thanks for reminding me of the time they advertised that with their card, I can take pleasure in having intercourse with food at a time most convenient to me.
Enjoy banging food. No thanks, I prefer eating it.
Was confused until I scrolled down the other thread to find your post with the photo, even then I had to read it twice
I don’t vibe with the advert but I do like the idea of easily accessible rewards that don’t need a million points or are with less everyday brands that I never buy from. I’m a simple man and getting a good offer on a burger is more appealing to me than rewards at fancy clothing brands, which is why I use my Chase interest every month to treat myself to food, as the compounded interest I lost out on is negligible at best. The best rewards I get from a credit card is with Barclaycard, the 0.25% cashback is meh but the separate Cashback Rewards scheme (open to all barclaycard customers) has offers I use a lot more often than from any other card. Cashback from Morrisons, Dominos and Deliveroo is way more appealing than what Amex offers me for the most part.
I was actually looking at reopening my FD credit card, mostly so that I have a Visa card so I’m not completely reliant on Mastercard (I’ve pretty much given up carrying cash).
My barclaycard does this job currently but they’re customer service is so awful that I’m looking to get away.
Been 5 working days since ordering mine and still not here, not a good start.
I’ve filled in the survey suggesting FD stay clear of Yonder.
Having had a Yonder card in the past, I can’t see the rewards they offer appealing to most First Direct customers…
It does seem like a strange partnership and not what I expected when there was first word of a potential rewards card a few months ago.
I’ve done the same. I have read through previous posts and am not impressed with how the Head of Marketing reacted to feedback from members on this forum. Not a fan of Yonder’s advertising in general either.
I can’t see how the two companies would be a good fit and it would make my view of first direct more negative if they go ahead with this partnership.
One thing I would say is he’s Australian, they are normally more upfront by default so may not have meant it.
Back to Yonder, it really confuses me, since there are a range of rewards based cards out there, including via the parent brand. I’m intrigued as to why they are focusing on here.
I recall getting a similar questionnaire from fdesign too. I haven’t had the chance to view it, but I guess that this survey is what’s being discussed on this chat.
FD’s credit card has not really had much going for it, there’s nothing in my view that makes it special or wanting to place my spending on it, it’s just a credit card that has (at present) spent a good few years sitting in a draw.
It needs to have some sort of reward element to it, but not chargeable.
I too have been gradually shifting my banking over the HSBC since the Mastercard debacle, and I’ve only really left it open to take advantage of the 7% RS and (now) fee-free spending on the debit card.
The only reason for having the creditcard and a few other products was that you were exempt from a monthly account fee if you didn’t pay in a certain amount monthly. It was in their T&Cs though I haven’t looked at them for years so it may have changed. I don’t think they charge a fee now.
No they don’t.
On @j06 suggestion - posting here around FD/Yonder.
I’m even more glad I don’t bank with FD anymore and gone for their older ‘brother’ HSBC.
I’m astounded that this is the best they can manage with new CC offerings.
More like their dad isn’t it?
I closed my FD few months back but just recently opened again , wonder if they will give me a switch bonus again
Have said goodbye to Monzo once more. Can’t get along with the customer service.
Hopeful this year FD will be full of nice app upgrades.
Did you close your account or just left it dormant?
They won’t. Usually FD exclude you if you ever had one from HSBC group.
Closed , yes I know I may not be able to return. Previous experiences I’ve been able to reopen before 12 months but I understand this may have changed now. Been on and off with Monzo since 2017 and was full Monzo during 2018 but back then customer service was great nowadays not so much.
