I usually do the same, but now iCloud syncs iMessage, I might set up fresh next time.
I have turned off iMessages in the cloud which makes life easier
- Relay for Reddit
- Sleep as Android
- BBC News
Honestly, it varies each time, but the first is always 1Password so I can sign in to the rest of them once they’re installed.
I generally install all of these first time:
- Integrated timers for Ingress
- Prime Video
- Google Apps (if iPhone)
Then as I go along I remember more…
1Password, Outlook, Evernote, WhatsApp, Monzo. Most of my life is organised with those apps.
When I got my XS I went for a fresh install, the only thing I thought I’d lose were my activities from my Watch but it seems those are backed up in iCloud now too, I’m sure when it was new they weren’t due to privacy concerns, so it was a nice experience having everything install fresh. It’s nice having all my old iMessages, I’ve been keeping an old iMac alive as it has had everything I’ve been sent since 2014 on it and my phones have just had the last years worth, but now everything is everywhere and no risk of losing old stuff.
For me it’s somethjng like
Takes a while to get used to it. The tags & markup make it much more powerful than notes.app for me.
Just realised I missed an important one, Standard Notes. It’s the best note making app I’ve used - after a lot of jumping around I think I’m sticking with this one for a long time.
Must check out some of these apps.
Additional to the Google apps
Nova - ok it’s a launcher
2 K9 mail
3 Some sort of handwriting note taker - Squid for ex
5 Rain radar
Didn’t want to start a new thread for this but does anybody use gboard?
I’ve only just downloaded and the predictive words really annoy me…
Usually you can just turn off with the normal iOS keyboard but I can’t find the option in the gboard settings, any help ?
I can’t say I’ve manually installed apps on a refreshed phone in quite a few years. But if I was to my first 5 apps would be:
- Relay for Reddit
Followed closely by:
- Google Maps
- File Manager+
