I love using Monzo as my main account but there is one major area where the payday experience feels unnecessarily manual compared to other banks like Revolut: the lack of background automation for incoming income.
Right now payday requires two manual steps that could be completely hands-off:
- Manual Get Paid Early: Having to open the app at 4:00 PM to manually claim a BACS payment feels like an extra chore. It would be amazing to have an optional toggle that automatically deposits the incoming salary into the main balance as soon as the 4:00 PM window opens.
- Manual Salary Sorter: After receiving the money having to tap through the Salary Sorter to split money into Pots every single month is redundant. Using fixed date-scheduled transfers isn’t an ideal fix
What I’d like to see: An “Auto-Pilot Payday” toggle in settings. If toggled on, Monzo would automatically claim the early BACS payment at 4:00 PM and immediately trigger your saved Salary Sorter template in the background.
For users with fixed budgets, this would make payday completely seamless—the money lands, splits into Bills/Savings Pots instantly and everything is organized without needing to check your phone. Please consider adding an opt-in toggle for those of us who want full payday automation!
