I’ve moved out🤣
Oh, well that’s just cheating come on ![]()
Gotta play the game to win ![]()
Been agile for elec and flexible octopus for gas 14 months now. Not even fussed. It’s only just peaking £120pm cuz it’s so cold but was much less when just electric though summer.
Same, been on Agile (constantly
) for electricity for 2 years now and Tracker for gas. Noticed that Agile electricity has been VERY expensive recently, despite the windy weather which traditionally lowers the price considerably ![]()
We could switch to Intelligent Octopus Go for electricity, but even watching the comparison on a daily basis, Agile is still the best tariff for cost-cutting - even with an EV.
Still cheaper than Flexible Octopus (for me, anyway). Just renewed both Agile and Tracker for another year.
Wow it’s been that long? I remember you saying in the old deleted thread that it was an experiment for one winter or something?
I’ve renewed mine. I actually don’t think the pricing is too bad at the moment. Yes on average it’s a little high, but there are still enough cheaper periods during the day to run our two main energy drains, the dishwasher and the washing machine (the car is metered separately).
Time flies. I used to flip-flop between Agile (summer) and IOG (winter) but in the last 2 years I’ve stuck with Agile. Free EV charging at work has been the main decider here - also considering IOG has a fixed amount during the peak times, whereas Agile is still variable throughout. So if you’re able to load-shift, Agile is still ![]()
I’ve been on Agile for 2 years too, it’s been fine. Last year my average kWh rate was 16.5p and roughly the same the year before.
I have an EV as well but I WFH so don’t do significant mileage and only really top up the car maybe once a month, if I drove much more or relied on the car to be topped up every night I think I’d rethink my approach.
One thing I have noticed though is, other than the times I charge the car, I don’t really look at the prices that much these days, I mean it’s pretty obvious they’ll be expensive between 4-7pm but other than that I think I’ve just gotten into a routine of putting the dishwasher on overnight with a delay, and doing my laundry during the day, and avoiding the peak period. There’s not been that many plunge pricing days recently, although looking at the predictor websites looks like tomorrow night might be a good EV charging opportunity ![]()
Well last week took a real turn for the worse huh, although to be expected I suppose, but I wasn’t expecting the market to react so aggressively to what’s going on in the Middle East - although I understand why
Sticking with Agile for the time being, on average I’m still up over the year, I just hope this isn’t like a 6-12 month ordeal or things escalate to even bigger proportions. That’s the gamble you take I suppose.
Hang in there. Wind
is back next week
, so as long as the North Sea windfarms are active (contributing to the grid), prices should reduce.
It has been a ‘WTF’ week though - sky-high off-peak prices
Yeah I’m staying the course, although I’m doubtful we’ll be seeing any price plunge events at all this year, especially after recent events, but happy to be surprised.
Past twelve months average p/kwh for me has been around 16.8p, so plenty of headroom, but it’s not fun looking at the day ahead prices, even though in reality unless you’re doing something really power intensive during the peak times it still averages out to around the SVT rate anyway. Today was a little more expensive, looks like I’m at 25p on average today, but over the past few days it’s been between 23-24p most days
Similar historic figures here - 18p/kwh average for the last 12 months and 23p/kwh for the last 7 days.
Shifting those loads (where possible) is key
Those of you who are eligible for the Blue light card or know someone. You can save a little bit if you get the Esso card.
In the Blue light card app or their website search for “Fuel” then select the Esso fuel card.
After that follow the instructions.
Well that’s not good!
Tracker is the average of the day, agile is half hourly so you can save even more by flexing your use.
All I ever remember is to not use high energy appliances between 4-7pm as that is peak hours. Not fussed on the rest as it’s usually cheaper than tracker and standard rates naturally.
My direct debit is £120pm and I’ve only been over it November and December times, being the coldest.
I did patch the patio doors and since I did that the heat stays around a lot longer.
