I was just looking at an IFTTT applet that automates saving when buying at a specified merchant. I was thinking I would like to save every time I donate to a charity. Could Monzo set this up as part of the Monzo account?

In the IFTTT applet, it requires “the name of the merchant exactly as it appears in your Monzo feed”. I would like to use Goodbox donation boxes, but the name may be different, the common factor is that the donations all begin with GBX*

This donate and save idea would create lots of goodwill for Monzo, so why not do it in the app?!

Those donations are done via GoodBox contactless readers, so the only thing differ them from an average contactless transaction is the spending category. Why would they create anything special for that when they can’t even add more charities to their “Give a Charity” function?

Forget it then! I’m suggesting self-funded rewards/saving for giving more to charity, but of course, why bother?! I’ve not even heard of the “Give a Charity” function.
