At a car wash cahir . The car wash was declined Monzo card contactless €14 the limit is set to €50 . Any ideas

If you’re using the physical card, the individual limit might be €50 but there is still a cumulative limit, when you hit that you need to use your pin.

Was there €14 or more in the 
account from which you tried to pay via contactless?
(I’ve made the same mistake in the past, later discovering my Google Wallet default payment card/account was set to my Monzo Personal account by mistake - which usually has no money in it, when it should have been set to our Joint account - which is the spending account)
This is the reason. You must do at least one chip and PIN transaction to activate contactless
