Anyone noticed the shine as you turn your phone side to side on the First Direct Current Account Card (in Apple wallet. /pay) It’s as if your turning a physical card and the light bounces off it lol I did a screen video of it but won’t upload

This happens if you’ve connected it to open banking within the wallet app in iOS.

Yes, have it on some connected cards on Apple Pay but doesn’t seem to be consistent. Two of my black RBS debit cards are connected but only one shows the effect.

How do you switch between the two?

Very nice. Overall, I think Santander has some great card designs globally at the moment

In Brazil, most cards work as both debit and credit. When you tap or insert your card at a store, it asks if you want to pay as debit or credit, the same at an ATM.

Apart from Brazil and the UK I only know this one from Portugal:

And these from Mexico:

Interesting, thanks.

I remember when I was at university in the US, my student ID card was also a bank card and it could be loaded with university credits to use in the cafeteria. When I used it they would ask which function I was using.

And this was back in 2008!

What happens if you use It abroad? I know some countries ask the cheque/savings/credit question, but most don’t.

In the US at least, usually have to say credit even though it’s a debit card.

I didn’t know that was a thing (duel use card). Also that is one of the nicest card designs I’ve seen in a long while.

The more I see cards like this the more I realise that the UK has some very boring designs.

I have one winging its way to me from Australia at the moment. It’s cheque/savings/credit.

Presumably it didn’t have anything as modern as a chip or contactless though

Definitely not, not in the US. Stripe and sign all the way.
