Still keeping mine full regardless of usage (just missing Monzo as the colour stands out a bit too much for me). All arranged alphabetically as I have issues (EDIT: I know technically the Barclaycard should be before the Barclays debit card but I prefer it this way)
I’ve pretty much reverted back to solely using my main Barclays account for a while now, so just a quick swipe when using the side button to initiate Apple Pay as it defaults to the Amex card.
Just got my Amex and it’s such a nice card. Easily jumps into my favourite cards collection. The blue looks so nice and the translucent part fits in very well. And just managed to scrape in with the 24 membership start
Day to day goes on the debit. For planned “big” purchases they go onto the Credit for S75 and paid off there and then.
I’m probably not getting the benefits of the reward card really but like the design and the points are a nice to have (HSBC Premier).
This was me. And, candidly, there was a time when money in my account was a reason to spend it. I’d find things I wanted to buy and be left with nothing.
Monzo really helped here. Each month I’d put everything in a pot and run with a 20 float in the main account. The behaviour of having to first put money out of the pot into the main helped control the impulse.
Now, just get paid, spend on debit and budget accordingly.
Everything on a credit card that has a reward on it, whether it’s cashback or airline points and cleared off in full when the bill arrives. Apart from the council tax, sadly, the local authority only accept a debit card payment only for it, shame really you get nothing for it for spending £2k, citing card fees.Yet other local authorities happily accept Visa/MC for payments without quibble.
Yeah, HSBC HK admin is painful - I wouldn’t have gone through the reactivation paperwork if there were a maturing product that has to be paid into a Hong Kong account.
I am not nearly as entertaining as @harrysj12341234, nor would I be able to get HSBC Private Bank (or any other bank) to open accounts in countries where they are not licensed (and did not even operate a booking centre when they had a license) or to get them to break the probation clause just for me to get the account transferred instead of sold
