Collected Thoughts on Card Design (Part 2)

The app is alright. Seems to be lacking a lot of features that some of the major banks have.

I noticed that in the Card Management section all you can do is “Replace Card”. No freeze, no pin, no card details. You can only replace the card.

But opening a account on their website was the easiest application i’ve ever had.

They are lovely cards.

Any chance you would know if they did a hard credit check on you? They’re rumoured to only soft check, but that wasn’t the case back in 2019 when I was a customer.

They state on their website you can do more though:

Manage your cards

If a card goes missing, there’s no need to worry – instantly block, unblock or cancel your debit and credit cards with our App and order a replacement card too.

I will have a look on credit karma

Seems I only got a soft search for opening up their current account

Got an offer to apply for Amex Biz Platinum today and was given the instant card option for the first time - mirror finished Plat doesn’t look as cool in Apple Wallet as real life, but still something different!

Thanks mainly to Royal Fail, two of my HSBC cards have finally arrived. I think I prefer the previous Premier card design and the slider is nice, but I actually think the Lloyds one beats it.

Is this a UK card?

Is that a metal card?

HSBC don’t issue metal cards, not here anyway.

No, but I can see why you might’ve thought that. It has a metallic look and the logo is shiny metal like.

Unfortunately no, USA card!

I much prefer the previous marble card too so have retained it for now, though it’s delaminated so looks really tatty. I was actually considering ironing it on low temp to see if I can melt it back smooth again

Nice but metal cards won’t change my perception of the brand.

Will they let you pay in three for a metal card.

It does give you the option to pay from your Klarna Card. So you could go into Klarna request a £45 pay in 3 plan and then pay with your Klarna card and then you are paying in 3 for your Klarna metal card with your Klarna card you have just started to pay for with Klarna.

The ultimate shafting :sparkles:

Just received a new UnionPay card (this time from Altery).

UnionPay issuers never seem to last long in the UK (I’ve had cards from Sticpay, Amon Tech and Guavapay)
