Collected Thoughts on Card Design (Part 2)

New iPhone?

Yeah iPhone 16 Pro. Shouldn’t be the case but having had the 14 Pro I deserved a treat :joy: and got the ability to add the Premier card. Today is a good day.

I love the screen. My caseology case arrives tomorrow, ÂŁ6 off Amazon :ok_hand:t3:

Same style that’s on my 14 Pro as it’s been perfect.

Save going off track on card designs…

What’s the best silver debit card? Guessing it’s Lloyds Silver?

What do you use the second Lloyds card for?

My bills account. It’s quicker to check the balance through the wallet widget than it is through the Lloyds app.

As you can stack wallet widgets, I have premier and classic on there.

I wonder why on the Premier card they just have the Lloyds in the regular font as opposed to their logo like they do on all the other cards

I wish they’d all align

For silver card other then Lloyds closest I guess would be Revolut ultra or maybe metal grey

Ultra would look great but I wouldn’t make use of the perks.

My parents had an RBS card with their photo and signature printed on the back - can’t remember if it was their standard Access/MasterCard.

Just went looking for a picture of one, and discovered that it was a standard Access design used by many banks:

the stock photo comes from this ancient BBC News article

wonder what would have happened if they signed the dog up for the card

Congratulations on finally getting Apple Pay to work! I do feel you should raise that as a new complaint as proof - it’s clearly Lloyds systems that are at fault. 16 Pro is great, highly recommend Ryan London minimal leather cases. But for something more protective - got to be Mous Limitless.

Nice clean set up you have with the 2x Lloyds and the Chase.

Agree wish Lloyds would have just used the design language of the rest of their cards. The premier card does stand out as odd.

I remember this design well, it really updated the design of the Access card at the time - NatWest introduced this design and I got it in 1989. A much more modern brand image than this:

Mine never had signature and photo though, and soon after that I was with First Direct with their original gold credit card.

Just saw something funny  A detachable credit card from Bank of Communication.

Here’s an even earlier version, issued in 1977. The issuing bank is only identified in small font on the back.

@AlanDoe since us few stuck around after the great mass exodus, can we have neon cards again? :folded_hands:t3:

I had an Access in the early days from Midland Bank. Credit limit was only £150. Following that my Barclaycard was £300. When Access was first rolled out the issuing banks just sent them out to their customers. Many people just spent recklessly not realising they had to pay back! I think the banks took quite a hit on that mistake. See link below showing TV adverts. I don’t think Fat Wallet would be allowed today as it’s a bit too sizeist
