Collected thoughts on card design (Part 1)

Polite request: Whilst this chat refers to card designs, it’s fine. But if you all want to start chatting about overseas accounts and the very intricate steps to open them, please can someone create a new thread and link away to it from here?

Ta muchly.

In fairness, in the last bit, this was more discussed just for us opening accounts for cards.

Do they offer a credit card/overdraft?

Be good to see what their credit card design would be like!

No to both.

Just noticed my first direct card is scratched/scuffed to hell. In comparison to a black hsbc is it just a worse material?

Mine is too and it’s been in a plastic bag with my passport and plethora of other cards. HSBC one unscathed.

A plastic bag? You mean like a carrier bag? Do you carry this bag around with you? I’m intrigued.

No, I’ve got a ton of cards. It stays in a drawer. I just take my house key, work fob and Apple Pay out.

Does anyone know if the new Barclays designs have rolled out yet?

My father received a new card today due to being “frauded”, I’ll update. Sadly, I can’t open it, wonder if I’d be able to feel the embossing, lol.

You will feel the embossing through the envelope, I’ve not opened mine but that’s how I know.

Yep it’s embossed. :frowning:

I can also confirm that Barclays Premier has not changed either!

Talking of Barclays Premier, they sent me an unfinished card with mine expiring… just been on the phone. Lol

What’s an unfinished card?

Does anyone know of a compilation of all current card acceptance marks?

As in X in 100 applicants are accepted for the ABC card?

No, as in the logos like VPay, MasterCard, Cirrus, Maestro, giropay, Switch, Solo, Eurocard, Discover, Union pay and many many others.

The newer designs are so much better, aren’t they? Much more modern and ‘on–brand’.
