Coffee ☕

That is an ace machine, we have that in the upstairs office at work.

£71 x 12 no interest will make that appealing to many.

If I was spending £100 a month on pods I’d do the switcheroo.

We also have this which is ace, S30 i think.

But this is like a few thousand :upside_down_face:

Does a ridiculous number of drinks and I’m hitting cappuccino pretty much each time.

My old office had that one as well. It’s pretty hefty though, you wouldn’t want it on your kitchen counter!

If anyone is looking for instant coffee recommends, I’m sold on this.

Doesn’t pack a massive caffeine hit but it’s creamy and caramel/hazelnut/chocolatey.

Haven’t found any instant to top that atm

My recommendation would be to drink better coffee

You sound like the voice in my head with most expensive purchases

It is a great machine as you said. I’ve had it a few years now and its still going strong. It’s likely that there is a newer better model out now?

I should have shares with them

Feels like a comfy xmas drink.

Oh that Pena is good btw. Worth checking out

I’m not sure anyone should be taking on debt for a coffee machine. I guess people will though.

You might be right. I’m now limiting myself to 4 pods a day… I am tempted by bean to cup though.

I just need to convince my partner next. They are quite taken by the Nespresso concept.

No regrets here  For how much it is enjoyed and used, it’s a good investment

Different kind of beans maybe? Instant, Nespresso and big chains use robusta beans, speciality coffee places use arabica - you might find that’s what’s making the difference.

My wife works in a coffee-related business - I do pay attention to her lessons occasonally. It does mean we usually have a good selection of beans in the house, though I only really trust myself to use either the French press or the Aeropress.

It is likely the beans.

Instant coffee vs freshly roasted and ground 100% arabica beans is a huge difference on many levels :yum:

This thread feels like the best place to ask. Anyone got a good reusable coffee cup recommendation?

At the moment it’s between Ocean Bottle Brew Flask and Fellow Carter Move Mug. Latter maybe being a little easier to clean and more hygienic but without the 10-year guarantee.

Are you looking for a cup or travel mug?

If the former, a keepcup more than does the job.

For a travel mug, Zojirushi is my go to.

Ideally something that resembles a disposable cup as closely as possible (so a wide opening) whilst maintaining some thermal insulation and being spill-proof

I’m probably misunderstanding you.

Reusable cups resemble glass takeaway cups in form and function. I.e. easy to drink from, look the same, leak when tipped and get cold fairly quickly.

Travel mugs are usually made of steel, fully sealed and can keep liquid warm for many hours.

I suppose I’m looking for a squat, wide, insulated cylindrical receptacle ideally made of steel for hot liquids that resembles a mug, sans handle, fairly closely.

I can’t describe what I’m looking for better because I haven’t found it yet. Most insulated things either have overly elaborate lids that will probably be a nightmare to fully clean.

I suppose this is the closest to what I’m after. As long as it fits under a coffee machine.

This may be a taboo for this subject, but it is still coffee :triumph:

Any suggestions for GOOD Decaf Coffee Beans? I have a Sage Coffee Machine sat around doing nothing since I gave up caffeine, so need some solid decaf beans please! :eyes:

I’m a Chilly’s fan personally, both for coffee and water.

Expensive but I love the designs and customisability.

Every quality roaster offers high quality decaf beans.

I like my Smidge cup - the screw-on lid is pretty much leak-proof when closed; you can drink through it; and it comes apart for cleaning.

My only issue with it is that the inside is a bit tea-stained, but I think that’s a problem with tea, not the mug.

(They also do nice water bottles)

Of the million other reusable cups we have in the house, I think KeepCup are probably my other fave - I see they’re now doing Chillys-style mugs too.
