Are you attempting to deposit into an ‘adult’ Monzo personal account (in your name)?
Are you attempting to deposit into a Monzo under-16 account (in your sons name)?
By “attempting…” have you tried in-app cheque imaging (and it didn’t work) or have you posted the cheque to Monzo (and they’ve returned it)?
I think the under 16 Monzo account (if that’s what your son has) doesn’t accept Cheque payments.
But the 16-17 Monzo account will accept them? So, maybe just wait a week, upgrade his account, and then he should be able to pay it in himself then?

Which is disappointing but also not unique to Monzo - Rooster and GoHenry have the same problem, as they’re not true bank accounts therefore can’t be part of the cheque clearing system.
I think qwango_uk’s suggestion is probably the most sensible - you’ve got 6 months to present it, so plenty of time to open a proper bank account with its own account number.
