Chase-style flat cashback feature

I love Monzo for budgeting, Pots, and general money management. But recently, I’m finding it hard to justify putting my daily spending through my Monzo card when Chase is offering flat cashback.

Right now, Chase gives 2% cashback (capped at £20 a month) on normal, everyday spending like groceries, petrol, and travel. I know they’ve added criteria recently (like needing to hold £1,000 in a saver and making 15 monthly transactions), but it’s still a reliable return. Monzo’s retailer-specific cashback is a bit hit-and-miss for my habits, and Billsback on the paid tiers isn’t quite the same as guaranteed cash in your pocket.

Because of this, I currently use Monzo as the ‘brain’ to sort my money, but move my actual spending cash to Chase. Monzo must be missing out on interchange fees and daily transaction activity from a lot of users because of this gap.

If Monzo offered a flat cashback rate – even 1%, or tied to the Extra/Perks plans, or a salary mandate – I’d bring all my card spending back immediately.

Is anyone else splitting their banking like this just for the cashback?

I can see why people would split their spending for that. A simple flat cashback option from Monzo would make it much easier to keep everyday spending in one place, especially for regular purchases.

I don’t think OP had paying out £15 in mind in his daily cashback plans lol

Probably doesn’t make that much in cashback
