Interesting! Central or local government? Or something else?

Central, though cant really generalise it enough for the public domain.

Sadly I don’t work with James Bond and I’ll never visit Downing Street. :worried:

The pension is nice, flexi is great, and planning my own work day/hours is a luxury I never knew I needed.

Working for a Government Agency can confirm the Pensions are quite good.

Depends how old you are, of course, and what happens in the future, but you can probably look forward to paying tax on your pension like I do, and penalised for being a good and careful citizen for 50 years. All demands and dues paid, and not beholden to anyone, including the State.

just asking for trouble

And yes, I would like a medal.

In case no one has picked this up: J.P. Morgan is looking to expand Chase to Europe, starting with Germany in 2025.

They have been running from an office in Berlin on the product side for a few years, the European banking entity for J.P. Morgan is based in Frankfurt. Recently news went round that they have poached the long-standing retail banking head of ING Germany, which in turn is currently (in terms of customer numbers) the third largest retail bank in Germany (Source: JPMorgan Hires German Retail Head as It Prepares Chase Start - Bloomberg).

Looking at Chase UK this might be the reason things have been quieter over the last few years and months, especially if their focus is on launching in Europe (and having to technically rig everything up to SEPA and deal with all the regulatory hurdles).

To be honest there is probably also more upside in terms of customer growth, as the already very saturated retail banking market in the UK offers tons of goodies, such as decent interest rates, free current accounts and more. And the UK has Starling, Monzo and Revolut.

I did work with a Mr Moneypenny (which I had thought was a made-up name, but apparently not) and I did walk down Downing Street in the days when they let you do that.

Perhaps Pussy Galore & Holly Goodhead were also real names

New Chase card feels like a downgrade. White core, the card flexes more, and no longer made of recycled plastic.

Mine also came pre-melted along the top edge.

Still awaiting mine, but it’ll only sit in the safe anyway :man_shrugging:
