Card Vending Machines

In a separate topic for Depositing Cash I suggested a vending machine style ATM that could be secured inside supermarkets throughout the country.

I also suggested the ability to register and print our own cards there and then.

It could be a mobile vending-machine type that’s housed inside supermarkets if Monzo were to rent the store space from them?

As an additional feature it could also allow the user to sign up and print their cards there and then. I know card embossing can be as small as a desktop machine and both the chip and magnetic strip should be able to be programmed. If the machine had a touch screen interface, the user could be able to have their signature digitally printed below the magstrip instead of having to use an old-fashioned biro

Although it was later pointed out by @anon44204028 that even this would still be susceptible JCB smash and grab attacks.

As a separate idea, I still think having the ability to print your own fully functioning Monzo card, without being part of a cash ATM, from a vending machine could be a good idea. This would remove the attraction for criminal attacks but would still promote the brand and give an advantage over the dinosaur banks.
