Has anyone else’s card stopped working?
When this is the 3rd time I have had to order a new card.
When I tried to use it in the shop contactless it doesn’t register that there is a card there. When I put the card in for chip and pin its unrecognised. There is no decline message and it doesn’t show that I’ve even attempted to use the card with bank. There is no damage to the card, it is in excellent condition, I keep it in the card part of my phone case. Mono say without an error message they can’t say why it isn’t working, but it’s not even registering and it just says unrecognised.
Is it the same shop you’re spending in?
Stop putting your card in your phone case. Order a replacement again, and keep it away from your phone.
Use it by chip and pin the day you receive it.
I stopped using it in different shops that I hadn’t been in before. I didn’t used to have it in my phone case I used to have in my purse. There is no damage to the card and it’s only really used in 2 shops. But this is the 3rd card I’ve needed to order in the last year, no issues before that for 8 years.
So it started playing up when putting it in your phone?
No, it started when it was in my purse that’s why I moved it to my phone just incase.
Can’t you just use Apple/Google Pay and stop using the card unless it’s for chip & pin?
So 3 different cards don’t give any sort of error message, nothing in the app, nothing on the card machine? In different shops?
Go to a bigger retailer, like a supermarket, and put your card in the chip and pin machine.
I have been using it on the phone especially if it’s in shops I don’t normally use, but it still asks for a pin now and then on some purchases and I can’t use the card at all.
ApplePay will never ask for a pin.
You’ll be asked for a pin on contactless when you hit your cumulative limit.
Apple Pay is authenticated by FaceID, so won’t require a PIN (ever). I haven’t carried a card (even abroad (in Europe)) since 2020 when Mastercard/Visa made it a requirement for terminals to support contactless.
