This idea just hit me and I am now wondering; how does the Government know that Monzo is not printing digital money?
Especially with Digital, I bet the number of transactions to check must be huge. Do they have to build their own tooling around the bank transaction logs to reconcile the inputs and outputs?
Did Monzo already get checked by some government agencies yet?

Well any bank can add zeroes, it’s just a field in the database at the end of the day.
The amount of auditing a bank must face is pretty incredible, actually.
Agreed, it’s not specific to Monzo. I am mainly asking here because Monzo might be more open about how it actually works under the hood.
