Bring local perks to Ireland! A weekly coffee/treat would be a game-changer in Dublin ☕️ 🇮🇪

Paid £5.80 for a regular! Starbucks caramel macchiato earlier. Daylight robbery.

It was nice though.

Good idea.

Oh, a free Supermac’s item would be the ultimate dream! :french_fries: chicken tenders or a Circle K sandwich on the road would literally break the Irish market. Monzo would win everyone over instantly! :joy: :raising_hands:

Haha ‘daylight robbery’ is the perfect description of coffee prices nowadays! :money_with_wings: Honestly, getting a coffee in Dublin has truly become a luxury item lately. That’s exactly why having a weekly perk from Monzo would be such a lifesaver for the wallet.

I’m not sure that would, but maybe a redemption for a chicken fillet roll or spice bag?

Back in the real world though I expect what you mentioned earlier, the self-service station in Supervalu or Circle K would probably be it

Of course, when the paid plans come (and I’m sure they will) Monzo might surprise us and do something very different and bespoke for this market. Greggs and railcard are obviously not going to be options. I’m not sure many will be up for Vue (the state of Liffey Valley last time I was there )

So something more localised perhaps, and they have said here (and for Spain) they will be adapting the offering to the local market so who knows :man_shrugging:

That’s not really expensive for good quality. And exactly what Greggs isn’t.

I just don’t see it being the “lifesaver” to have a bad €3 coffee once a week.

Even the best coffee is not worth £8.60 a cup! Where are you getting your coffee?!

Where are you going to spend £9 on a cup of coffee??

It has nothing to do with money management, it’s about customer engagement and what makes a modern digital bank stand out in a competitive market.

Discussing ideas for local perks and partnerships is how communities help products grow.

No one is asking for handouts; we are sharing ideas on how a bank can become more attractive and useful for its users’ daily lives. Keeping an open mind to new ideas is pretty simple too.

Coffee and a treat! Out and about a brownie is going to £3/4 for anything decent.

Ah I missed the treat part.

To be fair, I wouldn’t be expecting this either. It would be great if there was a perks tier that offered a Supermac’s ( :face_savoring_food: :tada: :joy: ) - but in reality I wouldn’t be making a paid plan decision on my bank account based on a coffee or treat. In fact, for me personally, I might actually actively swerve it.

I don’t think this market that historically has paid banking plans so used to it anyway will be swerved easily with a free coffee. Just my opinion though :man_shrugging:

Obviously not, but reducing marketing strategy and customer loyalty to ‘just a free coffee’ is a very narrow view of how modern fintechs work.

If you prefer a boring bank with zero benefits, that’s your choice. Some of us just prefer better value.

Fair point! And totally agree that no one switches banks just for a coffee. It’s more about that little feeling of getting something back from your bank on a Friday, you know? But hey, if they actually add that Supermac’s tier, I think we’d all sign up in a heartbeat! :french_fries::joy:

Fair enough! Working in banking or not, the beauty of a community forum is exactly that—people with different profiles sharing what they value in a product.

Glad we can agree to disagree. Cheers!

We’ve just launched a partnership with Char in Dublin for the Dublin 100 - keep an eye out on that partnership for some of the above :eyes:

Hey @Cian! :blush:Thanks for sharing this. I actually entered the Char competition, received a winning confirmation email, and excitedly replied with my details as requested. Shortly after, they sent a generic ‘you didn’t win’ email with zero explanation or apology for the mix-up, and have completely ignored my reply since! Love the initiative, but definitely a bit of a disappointing experience with the partner.

Wait, you’re disappointed your entry was acknowledged but you didn’t win?

Haha no, not at all! They sent a winning confirmation email first, asked for my Monzo username to send the €50, and I replied with my details. Only after that did they send the generic ‘you didn’t win’ email with zero explanation. Big difference!

Oh, well that’s overly misleading if that was the case: ie you won but then didn’t win.

I suppose their communications could be better. Should only be asking for where to send any winnings to if you actually win.

Exactly! I wouldn’t mind at all if I simply lost. What really bugged me was getting that generic ‘you didn’t win’ email with zero mention or apology for sending the winning one first. Mistakes happen, but proper communication goes a long way!
