I worked that out But, since you have a family, struggling to understand how, Amex acceptance included, you get by on just £10k spend!
No sorry I think you’re completely right. I made the error of assuming anyone using a cashback card is putting through at least six figs so that the amount 1% applies to becomes negligible.
Having said that, it seems you’d get an extra £100 with the 5% bonus to make up for that.
Mainly because I find the Monzo budgeting features pretty helpful so only really put big purchases that aren’t day to day, as well as fuel on the Amex. Maybe switching to the new card will be the catalyst for putting everything through Amex and getting my spouse a supplementary card!
Genuine is normal everyday expenses rather than anything artificial/manufactured/cashable.

Just completed my first month with my first Amex, the Amex Nectar.
TopCashBack have already paid the £30 referral.
Collected ~£15 worth in Nectar this month.
Just hit the £2k ready to get £100 (20,000 bonus) added six days before next statement just in time for shop.
So looking at ~£310 cashback over the year.
Overall incredibly impressed with chat support less than a min response times, take note Monzo. App is pretty decent, transaction notifications sometimes not immediate though is my only neg.

As far as I understand a 2 year gap then you are classed as a new customer with Amex?
So Aqua / Tandem with 0.5%, or do some stoozing with 0% Barclaycard and Marcus 1.45%?
Well more accurate you get SUBs again. But it’s never worth waiting as even for the 30k MR points with Platinum you’ll earn many times rather than waiting for two years…
