Forgot to activate Morrisons cashback, can edit the order which might work but then I would lose £20 cashback.
To be honest I havenāt used cashback once yet - I either forget or think I will spend more another time so donāt want to use it. For me single use really doesnāt work.
Now that Iāve been on the pilot for a couple of weeks, hereās some feedback.
I also made some comments earlier in the thread, but those werenāt based on first-hand experience.
Things I like:
The offers list contains lots of useful information available at-a-glance (single vs multi use, cashback limit, time left). Itās good that you donāt have to open each individual offer page to get this info.
Cashback accumulates in a cashback pot rather than generating extra microtransactions on the main transaction feed. Therefore less clutter in the main feed. Having said that, I do like that the transactions which generated cashback are identified as such in the main feed.
Once you click on an offer its good that the page contains information on types of transactions wonāt generate cashback at that retailer.
The process for reporting missing cashback works well once you realise where itās located (one of the cashback help articles).
Where I think there could be improvements:
The button for reporting missing cashback is buried. It should probably be present in the cashback pot/screen.
Whilst I donāt have expectations for missing cashback claims to be processed quickly (several days to weeks seems to be the norm elsewhere), it would be good to have an estimate of how long it is likely to take. You could provide that information when the report missing cashback button is used. At the moment, its not clear if a response or outcome should be expected in hours, days, or weeks.
It would be helpful if we could filter the offers list by category - e.g. I might want to filter the list to show only bar and restaurant offers.
It would be helpful if we could sort the offers list by distance - to identify nearby offers.
It would be helpful if we could combine filter and sort functions, e.g. to identify closest bars and restaurants offers.
After activating a single use offer, but before making a purchase, it would be good to have the option to deactivate it in case you want to avoid using it on a small purchase.
Although the current offers are all for major brands, I assume in the future there will be smaller brands that I may not have heard of. It would therefore be helpful if the page for each offer contained a link to the website of the retailer/business (and maybe even a 1-2 sentence description of what they offer). Assigning categories for offers (primarily to enable filtering) would also be helpful in understanding unknown retailers.
It would be nice if the cashback pot screen included stats on total lifetime cashback, and perhaps total accumulated during different time periods (e.g. current month, current year, etc).
When I read the information on the āhow we use your infoā screen, the order of the paragraphs seems wrong to me. I reckon the second paragraph (why we need to share your data) should come before the first (constraints on what the partners can do with it). Also, its still not clear to me exactly who you are referring to when you write āour partnersā. Not clear to me if this is referring to data aggregators (if so, who?), retailers, or both. It would be good if the phrase āour partnersā was a link to another page where you explain exactly what you mean by āour partnersā.
Agreed, I would almost rather smaller percentages but multi use than large percentages and single use although obviously large percentage and multi use is the dream. Every time Iāve gone into pets at home recently Iāve intended to spend over Ā£100 to get some good cash back and stock up on non perishable stuff, but they havenāt had enough product for me to do it.
Multi use means you can just go about your life and earn it here and there, single use has turned my pets at home trips into a strategy game and itās not one Iām enjoying
I missed out on the first test but have the option of using cashback for the second test. Iāve been ill for a few weeks so hardly been out of the house. Back to the office today and Iāll be spending Ā£2.40 at Greggs. Thatās the only retailer on the current list Iām likely to use and itās single use.
So opting in, agreeing to share however much transaction history, activating the offer, having a new pot appear for the cashback to go into, moving it out to my current account, then potentially having an empty cashback pot cluttering up my screen - doesnāt seem worth it for about 20 pence. Thatās assuming the cashback works and I donāt have to ask Monzo to sort it out if it doesnāt.
Multi use with a cap I might bother with, depending where itās useable - or just a small percentage everywhere. The current iteration is just not worth it for me.
I wanted to make the most of the Morrisons cash back and loaded £150 onto a gift card. When I went to use the gift card the monies were not there. I went to customer services in Morrisons and they could see that the transaction to load the gift card had been declined but the £150 debit card transaction went through normally.
A week later the £150 has been taken from my Monzo account (not a pending transaction as it was over a week ago and the Monzo transaction has settled).
The inshore staff refused to help as they donāt offer refunds on gift cards. I contacted the Morrisons gift card provider and they said to contact store staff. I donāt really know where to turn next.
A raise a dispute for goods not received via monzo.
Though being a gift card you may need written detail of whatās happened or not happened from Morrisons to confirm the payment didnāt go into the card.
Iād go back to the store and ask to speak to a manager. The instore staff wonāt have the authority to help anyway, even if they werenāt misunderstanding the issue - youāre not asking for a refund given the transaction was, allegedly, declined.
After doing the above Iād then follow Carloās advice. Iād do the above first as, as Carlo notes, Monzo will want proof that youāve tried to resolve the issue with Morrisons first.

Some of the offers are due to expire in ā1 dayā, so will we see any updates today/tomorrow? Such as a 3rd phase?
Yeah the way I have worked it is to āpre loadā all the multi use ones and then have the single use oneās that I can activate when desired. However the big issue is that I never remember to activate the single use ones.
So my main bit of feedback is ⦠more multi use please. Other than that though I absolutely love it. I got a free 20 quid from spending in Morrisons, and I would not normally shop in Morrisonās so it did change my shopping behaviour.
I see this as potentially a huge benefit to being a Monzo customer and really hope they roll it out to others.

I agree. More multi-use ones please. Even if itās a lower percentage per transaction, but with the same ācapā as the single-use (so instead of single-use capped at Ā£20, can do as many as I want but max combined cashback of Ā£20 for that retailer while the offer is active).
I almost missed out on 12% back at Iceland at the weekend, but luckily I remembered as I was walking around the store. Just shy of a tenner in cashback awardedā¦! Nice!
Iām intrigued to see what the next round of testing is.
Seems like weāve tested multi use low cap, single use high cap ⦠the only other thing I can think of is a small cash back on all transactions. But not sure how thatād be funded in roll-out so not sure itās worth testing. Guess weāll wait and see!
Unless some major desire comes over me to go and do a Morrisons shop this evening itās looking like my cash back progress for this month will cap out fairly low. The only one Iāve managed to use is the multi-use asos offer which so far has netted me and my partner a combined Ā£14 from ordering some holiday clothes, although weāre returning a good chunk so that will probably end up more like Ā£6-7, not the most successful month so intrigued to see what happens tomorrow.
Iāve claimed precisely Ā£0 cashback in the past month. Iāve had a look at the offers expiring and I donāt think Iām going to panic-buy a Dunelm gift card.
Still a few months on the clock for the retailers that are in the āwill activate when the time is rightā basket. Though if it hasnāt been right so far, thatās not a great sign.
