The simple fix would be simply for Monzo to offer a splash page in the app if you’re eligible for the free trial and then an opt-in button to sign up for it. TBH I was also annoyed at the free trial when I first signed up as I think most of what Extra offers should be free anyway and I didn’t want a week of “free” stuff that would then be taken away from me. Since then I’ve turned off personalised marketing and have never been offered another trial.

I was new, marketing was turned off while setting up, it was still auto enabled without opt in. It bothered me a little but when I saw that they said I won’t be automatically charged, I relaxed. Whatever is in that plan is free in many places. They should just do away with that tier
