Apple TV+

It was a struggle to get past the open scene but here we are!

So far so good!

So for

Coming new to this should I be watching anything else first?

That’s the sequel to 2014’s Godzilla, so you might want to watch that first. It’s not necessarily required viewing to jump right into king of the monsters IMO though.

The new Apple TV+ show takes place between the events of the 2014 Godzilla film and King of the monsters, and is probably more important context for the tv show than the king of the monsters movie. Again, I don’t think it’s required viewing, but it’s definitely worth a watch.

I also found this

Which made me think there might be a prequel

And a 4 film set

Yup, there’s 4 films in the MonsterVerse franchise so far!

£16.99 for the whole set is a bargain. Lots of bonus content, especially with king of the monsters and Godzilla vs Kong.

I kinda thought the 2019 might have been a prequel as it’s also labelled King of the Monsters

No, 2019’s king of the monsters is a direct sequel to the 2014 Godzilla film

Chronologically it’s:

  1. Kong: Skull Island
  2. Godzilla (2014)
  3. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (Apple TV show)
  4. Godzilla: King of the Monsters
  5. Godzilla vs Kong
  6. Godzilla x Kong (coming next year)

Mariah Who?

Glad to see this is being so well received. I never bothered with the Mariah Carey ones from the last couple of years, but very much looking forward to this.

Not tonight though, because the third episode of Monarch is out and I’m loving it.

Watched S2 of The Afterparty. I have to say that despite my reservations and my not really enjoying S1, S2 was a pleasant surprise.

I don’t know what they did but I got quite into it and the mind movies felt much better executed than S1. Shame it’s over but it seems everyone got their happy ending.

It’s easy watching tv, I didn’t mind it.

Slow Horses S3 is out today - the best show on TV+ IMO.

I’ve just signed up to Apple TV again (Netflix has been lacking)

I’ve only started watching Monarch so far - really enjoying it and love that they’ve found an opportunity to cast Kurt and Wyatt Russell as a present and past version of a character. Not sure I’ve seen it done before

Shows I plan to revisit

For All Mankind - so far behind on this so gonna start again :full_moon:
Foundation - think I saw the first season and really enjoyed the concept.

Gonna read through the topic to grab any other suggestions for shows to watch :eyes:

I’m loving it. It’s my new favourite tv show. To the point I waited up till 2am Wednesday morning to catch episode 3 the moment it went on and will be doing the same on Friday.

The Russel casting is really quite great. I don’t know if you’ve seen episode 3 yet, but there’s a transition in there that really sells that casting choice. Not something you could really do with CGI or other actors.

Slow Horses and for all mankind are great too, so it’s gonna be a brilliant couple of months with all these shows on at the same time.

Season two needs to hurry up. I’m still frustrated with the last few moments of final ep.
