Itâs exactly the same. How much you start with is your budget.
Only you can adjust your spending.
Itâs exactly the same. How much you start with is your budget.
Only you can adjust your spending.
Itâs not exactly the same. The left to spend spotlight feature draws from Trends, which forces you to set a budget, and then the figure it shows is simply how much of that budget is left.
I donât want to set a budget - I just want a prediction of how much will be left at the end of the month based on my current rate of daily spending. This is what the old Summary enabled. If the prediction was lower than I hoped, I used to cut back on spending. It was a very useful feature to me, and I continue to hope that Monzo will again implement something like that in the future, using AI to predict how much you may be left with, and then you can adjust your spending accordingly.
It would be great if we could âSplit the billâ on transactions showing through the linked bank accounts connected with open banking.
I pay for a meal with my Lloyds credit card, open the Monzo app, click on the transaction and split with my friend who also has a Monzo app.
I know the issue would be transactions are pending and could change etc, but would still be a great feature.
At the moment if I pay for a meal I manually go into monzo and request the amounts which is a little longer.
There is left to spend, but it doesnât show the bar moving down.
Yeah but thatâs just the same left to spend figure that there always has been - total in account minus bills. That was around before the redesign also. It does not predict how much will be left at the end of the month based on current rate of spending. Something like that is what I am looking for. I found it so useful and much less anxiety inducing than traditional set budgets.
Itâs unlikely coming back, so as Starling say, just check your balance regularly.
I wouldnât expect the return of the exact same unchanged feature, but I would hazard a guess that Monzo will at some point give you AI spending predictions that donât require you to set a budget. Hereâs hoping ![]()

You can split the bill for connected accounts, but only once the amount has settled (not pending anymore).
Granted you can only add to a Running Split, but itâs still works for what you want.
This has today reverted back to the previous view.
Noticed that as well. ![]()
Another Whack-a-Mole experience the other day with Flex suddenly appeared on the connected accounts carousel when Iâd already dismissed 5 different attempts to get me to sign up for Flex. ![]()
At some point this menu which appears when selecting a transaction category changed (on iOS) from an action sheet with three options to a custom control:
My issue with this is the default choice of âFrom now onâ, which feels too easy to apply accidentally when in reality I only wanted to change that single transaction.
My preference would be for there to be no default selection, with Apply disabled until a choice is made. I could also see an argument for intelligent defaults - recent transactions stick with âfrom now onâ, while historical transactions (more likely to be one-off changes) go with âThis paymentâ as the selected option.
Iâd just say âThis paymentâ should be the default tbh
It used to be and it changed a few months ago.
Just checked out the charities listed in Monzoâs âGive a Charityâ and discovered a cause close to my heart, although the list still stays the same since that thread was opened.
To echo a lot of peopleâs opinion in the above locked thread, I think it would be great if GiftAid could be integrated, or at least thereâs a prompt to remind us if we overcome the friction and donate directly via the charitiesâ websites, the charities can claim back 25% tax.
I currently have a Monzo Personal account as well as Flex. I donât have a Joint account at the moment.
Iâd love the option to change the âAdd moneyâ button on my personal card to âMove moneyâ as a quick shortcut to move money between Pots (particularly now Pots have moved into the Grow tab).
Am I right in saying that âMove moneyâ is âgatedâ behind opening a Joint account?
Does anyone know if this in âTrendsâ is a new thing?
I have just discovered it and appears that it could be useful.I spent more than usual in the last week but now appear to be at the same level again.
As itâs so useful, does Monzo allow customising the app to an individual userâs needs? For example, Iâd like this âTrendsâ to be above âActivityâ on the Home Screen?
Itâs the same graph you seen in Trends Spending tab.
This massive banner has appeared in my Hone tab this morning. Iâd really appreciate an option to make it dismissable now Iâm aware of the deadline.
They have to keep it there, because otherwise youâll have customers complaining saying
âMonzo removed my app access with no warningâ and âHow can I feed my kids now that I canât access the monzo app because my phone is outdated and doesnât get the latest softwareâ, despite Monzo making it very clear that they can only support so many android and iOS software versions.
