As long as you pay in full by the due date, it doesnā€™t matter if you pay by Direct Debit, bank transfer, card payment or by mailing 1p pieces in the post*

MONZO BLOCKED MY ACCOUNT - HOW DO I FEED MY CHILDREN?

Yes, it is true. A largeā€™ish transfer to pay off my Amex via OB transfer was just declined and my Monzo account was blocked. A quick Sunday morning :eyes: verification video and 20 seconds later I was unblocked and a payment retry was successful. Well done Monzo. Surf and Turf all around kids!

Completely unacceptable for Monzo to check the validity of a large outgoing payment. How inconvenient that must have been for you, and on a Sunday no less! Sounds like itā€™s time to find yourself a proper bank /s

On a genuine note, just applied for and was accepted for my first ever AMEX. The ā€˜Platinum Cashback Everyday Credit Cardā€™ with the 5% cashback for 5 months offer.

I find it odd how they donā€™t tell you the credit limit even after accepting the applicationā€¦

Do you know if thereā€™s a maximum amount or cap for Amex cashback at all?

Capped at Ā£125 over 5 months, instead of the usual Ā£100 over 3 months for the offer.

With normal use there is no cap. But itā€™s only 0.5% up to Ā£10k and then 1% above Ā£10k.

I also had my account blocked this morning when transferring some savings. Verification video submitted and then I thought the app froze because it didnā€™t seem to do anything for about 20 seconds. Notification came through to say my account was unblocked.

Pretty smooth experience other than the slight app hang.

I got this twice last year when buying stuff from Apple, it was slightly annoying but at least it unlocked my Monzo account almost immediately.

My only takeaway is that member of Monzo Community == enhanced fraud checks.

Weā€™re obvs a dodgy bunch. :joy:

Honestly itā€™s not that surprising thinking back, I bought 2 things from Apple back to back, Apple seems to be one of the more popular places people buy stuff with stolen cards.

No offence intended - if it didnā€™t come across my tongue was firmly in my cheek!

(Iā€™m not fan of this sort of biometrics for authentication but Iā€™m glad Monzo is on it).

Iā€™m not surprised at mine at all. I was moving savings from Chase to Atom, but transferred it through Monzo.

So money in, money immediately out. Probably stupid of me

Oh I didnā€™t mean that, more thinking out loud as I made a bit of a fuss about it here when it happened ha.

I agree we are a dodgy bunch.

I do this so much. Money barely touches down in my Monzo account before itā€™s off again.

Canā€™t remember the last time I had a verification video.

(Iā€™m gonna get my account closed, arenā€™t I? :joy:)

Edit: insert insightful comment about Amex here. Apologies for drifting off topic, letā€™s veer back on!

Back on topicā€¦ discovered after a while on the phone that they wonā€™t transfer a credit limit from an existing card to a new one within the first three months of the new one being open.

Good to know as I plan on doing this exact thing in April. Want to move my cash back credit limit to my new rewards card.
