Amex (American Express) Discussion

Well I suppose it was. Had blue and applied for gold. Did it via the chat.

I don’t know all the possible combinations but I can reallocate between different reward cards (British Airways and Marriott cards).

I needed to renew my vehicle tax and noticed that Amex was listed as a payment option, so decided to use it.

Unless I overlooked it, I don’t remember it being an option last year.

I have been pestering them behind the scenes for a good while now. Thought it was falling on deaf ears but perhaps not. You can thank me later

I just tested the new reallocate credit limit feature in app. It’s increased the credit limit on the receiving card, but hasn’t reduced the limit on the donor card!

Not sure if I should tell them or not :joy:

Try moving it back and see what happens. Wonder at what point they would catch on? £100k? £million?

Someone on Reddit confirmed the same happened to them. I’ll leave it 24 hours and see if it sorts itself out

I see someone mention priority pass and four bookable passes - are they doing that again this year? I don’t see it anywhere?

Just to add to what @ndrw is saying - on Plat, you have unlimited lounge access but on a first come/first service basis if they had space but you also got four (well eight actually) prebook slots last year.

Does anyone else with an Amex Nectar get points transferred in weird tranches, and if so, any idea why? I can’t work out the logic behind it - Apple Pay split maybe? The supp card has never been used so it can’t be that.

I don’t nave one any more but mine also used to look like that. Perhaps points for spend at Nectar partners are calculated separately from general reward Nectar points because of the different multipliers?

Yes mine look like that

Do you also use a mix of physical card / phone contactless transactions?

My Amex statement shows the same splits under card xxxxxxx12345. It all adds up so not a problem, but it’s not clear why it isn’t a lump points transfer.

Mine does that too, always wondered why they didn’t just transfer it one amount. I got the point of just accepting it, so long as I get the points.

When does Amex report credit balances to credit agencies? Is it at the end of each statement period?

I’ve just made a payment that took me close to my limit, but don’t want this on my record. If I pay off the amount manually before the statement period ends, will it not be reported?

Clearscore shows the date of my last amex update was the 6th March, which is also my statement date.

Mine also shows that, but my statement date is the 26th. That is around when my direct debits come out though

All cards for me report each statement balance, as that’s the only time they have a fixed value to report.

Note that the day it updates in the credit report will be several weeks after it’s been reported. The updated date isn’t the date they sent the balance.

This is what mine shows in Credit Karma - the date of my statements is different to all these dates, but it reported the statement balance:
