A big update to connected accounts

I’ve also got an outstanding issue with First Direct already reported to Monzo prior to the Chase issue. This shows my FD credit card with a nil balance which is correct but the payment taken to make it nil is not showing (I pay all credit cards in full by Direct Debit). The contra entry from my FD Current Account is showing.

That’s just how some credit cards work, HSBC and first direct credit card transactions won’t show until they clear. They won’t be showing in the apps for those banks either. But the payment from your current account will show straight away. The reason the balance updates in Monzo is because they use the available balance which will update immediately, and not the cleared balance.

Well it shows for all the previous DD transactions on this credit card and the last transaction DD payment clearing the account was on 3.5.2024.

It would show the previous ones, as they’ve cleared. When’s the last payment on the credit card you’re expecting to see but aren’t? I have my first direct credit card added and not had any issues with anything showing up once they’ve cleared.

The DD was on 3.5.2024. DDs clear on the date they’re taken. The connected account should show this as “credit adjustment” but it doesn’t. I spoke to one of the Extra experts and she understood my point. If I’d been wrong I’m sure she’d have said. Even on the basis that you receive a nil balance credit card statement this would have been received in June. It’s not a huge deal but when I’ve used other open banking platforms they’ve tended to be correct and show all transactions.

UPDATE: I’ve just added the relevant FD card to Zopa’s open banking platform and it shows my payment/DD on 3.5.2024.

It would clear from the current account but wouldn’t show on the credit card for a day or two. If it’s been that long then disconnect and reconnect the account I guess. Doesn’t seem to be a widespread problem with first direct.

See my update above about just adding the card to Zopa’s open banking platform. I’ve disconnected and reconnected numerous times & it hasn’t corrected itself. Probably an issue specific to me but it should be correct particularly as it’s a paid for service and other open banking platforms are free.

I believe having the repeating payment option is for regular transactions that would typically fall under “Subscriptions”. Looks like you have a Direct Debit Signup which is communicated directly with your bank thus knowing it’s a repeating/scheduled payment.

It should show if you navigate to the scheduled payments by clicking the … on the Monzo home screen.

I have one from Homeserve which is a direct debit coming out of my current account but no option to mark it as repeating monthly either. All my others have the repeat option but not this one. 5 payments so far on the same day of the last 5 months but Monzo doesn’t see it as repeating.

I found a solution to this.

If you just uninstall or pause the John Lewis Credit Card app, then Monzo will go via a web portal when trying to link the card, instead of opening the JL app.

From there, linking worked absolutely fine. After that, you can reinstall or re-enable the app

hi, welcome. This is a connected account (Nationwide) direct debit, so doesn’t show up in the Monzo payment section under Scheduled. I have other direct debits with Nationwide and they have the repeating condition appear. Weirdly not this one.

Hi @AndreasH are you able to shed any light on this?

Cheers

Might this be the same issue as our Nationwide mortgage?

Our mortgage is taken out of our joint Nationwide account. This account shows up fine on Monzo, all its direct debits show up properly and can be marked repeating, show up in Trends etc… except the mortgage payment. This one cannot be marked repeating (option not there), and as such does not show up in Trends.

Any idea why?

Does anyone have issues with transaction retrieval for Barclaycard? I stopped seeing updates since the last week. The balance is updating correctly though.
Transactions are coming through in Emma and Apple wallet. Updating the connection has not fixed the issue either.

I have the same issue and have raised it with Monzo. They say they are aware and working on a fix.

Looks like my Chase accounts stopped updating sometime yesterday afternoon? Both transactions and balances are now wrong.

(Edit) never mind, it’s fixed

In getting really frustrated with how connected accounts are working. Looks like no one is giving fuck about this functionality. Virgin will never get added. My Barclaycard connection is not working for already two weeks. And no one is posting any updates

Could be worse. Here Santander’s list.

Am I right to assume that it’s not a paid feature with Santander?

Monzo Open banking, to be fair, pees all over the rest with the inclusion of Trends.

Why people cry so much about Virgin I will never know, plenty of compatible credit cards on the market.

As for Barclaycard, I’d guess that’s a problem their end.
